RB Certification
RB Certification is an active gripper-closing certification administered by Griffkraft-Deutschland through the Oldschool Strength Club website. It uses designated Robert Baraban C-series grippers from RB 210C through RB 365C and requires a one-handed table no set (TNS) close on video.[1]
- Administrator: Griffkraft-Deutschland
- Host: Oldschool Strength Club
- Status: Active
- Technique: Table no set
- Certification grippers: RB 210C, 240C, 260C, 300C, 330C and 365C

C-series certification grippers
The suffix C is used for the program's certification grippers.[2] These are controlled specimens retained by Griffkraft-Deutschland and mailed to an applicant for an attempt; they are not simply any privately owned RB gripper with the same nominal number.[1]
The official rules page publishes the following measurements. Spread is given in centimeters and the resistance figures are the listed pounds for the individual certification grippers.[1]
| Certification gripper | Listed spread | Listed rating |
|---|---|---|
| RB 210C | 5.40 cm | 92.94 lb |
| RB 240C | 6.30 cm | 121.28 lb |
| RB 260C | 6.00 cm | 123.48 lb |
| RB 300C | 5.90 cm | 143.33 lb |
| RB 330C | 5.90 cm | 165.38 lb |
| RB 365C | 6.10 cm | 176.41 lb |
Because these values identify the program's actual grippers, they should not be treated as factory averages for all RB grippers bearing the corresponding base model number.
Attempt procedure
The official German rules specify the following sequence:[1]
- The athlete sends a certification request to Griffkraft-Deutschland.
- Griffkraft-Deutschland mails the certification gripper to the athlete.
- At the start of the video, the gripper rests on a firm surface.
- The athlete films the handle spread.
- The athlete picks up the gripper with one hand and closes it using table-no-set technique.
- The athlete returns the gripper to the surface and measures the spread again.
- The gripper must remain visible throughout the video.
- The gripper may not be modified in any way.
- Only one hand may be used for the close.
- After filming, the athlete returns the gripper to Griffkraft-Deutschland.
- Griffkraft-Deutschland reviews the attempt and reports whether the certification was successful.
This page summarizes the published rules in English. Athletes should consult the current official German rules before arranging an attempt, since the administrator's wording governs the certification.
Table no set
In this program, table no set means that the gripper begins on the table and is picked up and closed with the same hand. The other hand may not be used to position or pre-close the handles. The before-and-after spread measurements help show that the certification gripper was not altered during the attempt.[1]
This differs from certification systems that permit a card set or another two-handed setup. A close performed under a different technique is not automatically an RB Certification result.
History and activity
Video evidence documents successful RB 210C certification by January 2019.[3] The Oldschool Strength Club news archive records additional certifications on the RB 210C, RB 260C and RB 300C in February 2024, demonstrating that multiple levels remained in use.[4] A 2024 GripBoard discussion also described the certification as active and reproduced the C-series ratings from the official program.[2]
Gripperpedia does not reproduce the program's athlete lists. The official level pages remain the authoritative source for accepted results.
